What efficiency, linear feet, and waste mean in the shop.

Efficiency

Efficiency is the percent of film used for windows versus what is cut off the roll (including necessary waste). Higher is better -- but sometimes a slightly lower number is worth it if it matches inventory or simplifies cutting.

Linear feet

Linear feet tells you how much length you'll pull from the roll. This is what helps you order and stage accurately.

Waste

Waste is film that's not part of any window piece. Waste is sometimes unavoidable due to width pairing. The goal is to keep it predictable -- and consistent across employees.

What to check before cutting

  • Does the roll width match what you plan to use?
  • Does the linear feet look realistic for the job?
  • Are the diagrams easy for your installer to follow?
